What kind of experiences, you had with Indian students in German classes?
"Mmmh - blanket judgements are always difficult.
In my eight years long practical experience in teaching students from all over
the world in the basics of the German language, I saw very different students.
Is there, the typical Indian student? Let me try to describe different types.
The first type - fortunately not the majority - is not really interested in learning. They only appears once in a while in class, doesn't do any homework - but wants to
get a good mark at the end.
The
second type is interested in learning, but seems to be afraid of using the
German language. Maybe it's the fear of doing mistakes. Some of this type are
very shy in general, some of them only hesitate to speak German. When they are
not sure, they don't ask. No idea, if it is, because of shyness or because
asking is something bad.
The third type is interested in much more than only learning the language. They are keen on
getting to know any thing German, the Germans, Germany. They are eager to speak the new
language, no matter, if there are any mistakes. They bombards me with
questions. This type of students learn very fast and seemingly easy"
