Rail and Fly

Source: Deutsche Bahn

Rail and Fly is an extraordinary facility offered by Deutsche Bahn (German Railway) for its partner airways (check this Link for the listed partner airlines). A rail and fly ticket enables passengers to travel free of cost across Germany 24 hours after arrival or in case of travelling from Germany 24 hours before the scheduled flight departure.

Many of the travel agencies and even official airline authorities lack proper information on Rail and fly. I personally experienced it first handed, when I asked Air India officials to book an air and fly ticket, they replied that they are not offering such tickets. So don't be upset by those replies. Ask them to verify with their officials.  Air India offers these tickets under "QYG" category. Moreover Luftansa offers a reserved seat in the train and luggage pickup from collection point to the train.

Printing out train ticket from Ticketautomat

Your rail and fly ticket issued by the airlines will have a 'Pickup number' for train ticket along with the flight details. One should print out a train ticket in order to travel in the trains, flight ticket is not valid. Procedure for printing out the tickets is explained in this Link (after following the link scroll down for relevant info) or you can consult the Deutsche bahn officials at the station for help.

The info provided is subjected to change, please contact your airlines for updates
